Woman rescued from Kitsap bluff

A woman stuck on the northern tip of the Kitsap Peninsula was rescued from Foulweather Bluff on Tuesday. The 33-year--old woman, who was visiting from the United Kingdom, was running along the beach. She tried to escape rising waters and became stuck on the steep muddy hillside below the bluff, North Kitsap Fire & Rescue reported.

FDNY Finds a Way Around Times Square Traffic for Medical Emergencies.

Fire Commissioner Daniel A. Nigro has developed a possible solution in using gator utility vehicles, small two-passenger vehicles. response times for life-threatening calls in the area have improved by an average of 68 seconds in the last four months of 2017 compared with the same period in the previous year.

Washington Twp. (OH) Fire Department Purchases New Fire Apparatus

Pushing a new piece of apparatus into its bay dates back to the mid-1800s when horse drawn wagons had to be backed into their stations, said Fire Chief Bill Gaul. Weighing in at about 21 tons, the new engine is considerably heavier than a wagon, so firefighters will get some help from the vehicle’s own engine, the fire department said in a statement.  

The new Pierce Saber Engine replaces a 17-year-old engine that will be used for backup when one of the department’s five front-line engines is out of service. The new engine is lighter and more maneuverable than the one it replaces.

Teen Sentenced for Deadly Accident Involving Akron (OH) Fire Apparatus

Judge Linda Tucci Teodosio sentenced the girl to one year suspended with the Ohio Department of Youth Services. She will be on probation for 12 months. During that time, she must continue counseling, work on a community service project to honor the victims and pay restitution.  

The judge also suspended her driver's license until she's 21. If the teen fails to fulfill the terms of her probation, she will be sent to the Ohio Department of Youth Services.

James City County (VA) Police Responded to Accident Involving Fire Apparatus

Rubino says it happened around noon.  The James City County fire truck was heading west on Richmond Road.  It’s lights and sirens were on as it was responding to a fire in the 9500 block of Richmond Road.
