Pre-annexation agreement between Port Townsend and East Jefferson Fire-Rescue to be before council next year

The Port Townsend City Council has directed city staff to begin negotiating a pre-annexation memorandum that would change the governance and taxing structure in the current interlocal agreement between the city and East Jefferson Fire-Rescue. The council unanimously approved moving forward with the process Monday, and City Manager David Timmons is expected to bring a preliminary agreement to the council in January.

Chillicothe (MI) Fire Department Received $160,000 to Update Fire Equipment

This will replace 28 current in service SCBAs. When firefighters go into a burning structure, confined space, or hazardous environment, they carry the SBCA on their backs to have safe breathing air while inside a harmful atmosphere. This keeps the firefighters alive. The new SCBAs have the newest and up-to-date features with buddy breathing capabilities, so if a firefighter runs out of air or has a malfunction, the SCBAs can be linked together so the firefighter can get out safely.

Corpus Christi (TX) Opens New Fire Station

The $1.8 million, two-bay station is complete with living quarters, office space and a training room. Funding was approved by voters in a 2008 bond package.  

The station is designed to take some of the work load off Fire Station No. 10, one of the busiest stations in the nation, recording more than 9,000 calls last year. That’s an average of 24 calls per day, according to reports.
