Central Kitsap firefighters rescue woman and dog from steep embankment above Hood Canal

A woman and her dog had to be rescued after they became stranded 100 feet down an embankment in Silverdale Tuesday night. Firefighters from Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue were called to the 10000 block of Warren Road NW, around 8:00 p.m. Crews said the owner apparently fell while trying to save her dog, a 100 pound Great Pyrenees.

East Valley Fire Department uses annual hockey game to better know kids in community

With a tie game, both teams went into sudden death overtime and the next goal wins. Moxee Elementary 5th graders were able to slip one past the goal keeper and claim the trophy against the East Valley Fire Department. “We tried we aren't just out there pretending to play,” Lieutenant Trevor Lenseigne with east valley fire said.

CPR Device Arrives for Oregon (IL) EMTs

The LUCAS device attaches around a victim in need of CPR via a plate that slides under the back and connects to a mechanized arch with a centered piston, positioned above the victim.  

Once assembled, and with a battery engaged, LUCAS will perform chest compressions until the battery runs out, which lasts about 30 to 40 minutes.

“We’ve got two batteries, so we can get an hour or more of automated, hands-free compressions,” said Fire Chief Mike Knoup. “If all else fails, it has a plug that goes into an electrical outlet to continue compressions, and we have those in the ambulances.”
