The boards from Snohomish County’s two emergency dispatch centers — SNOCOM and SNOPAC — on Thursday voted to consolidate the county’s two 9-1-1 centers, effective Jan. 1, 2018.
Both SNOCOM, located in Mountlake Terrace, and SNOPAC, in Everett, were founded in the 1970s and are staffed 24 hours a day to answer police, fire and related emergency calls.

On Wednesday, the Yakima Fire Department hosted its 23rd annual Spaghetti Feed to raise money for the Washington State Council of Firefighters Burn Foundation..
Fire Station 91, located at 401 N. Front St, started serving spaghetti plates at 4 p.m.
Firefighters started preparing the food the night before to prepare for the large crowd they were expecting.

A draft report outlined Tuesday night shows Moses Lake will need to rethink its “business model” for its ambulance service.
Representatives with Redmond-based FCS Group consulting firm presented findings of their Ambulance Utility Cost of Service and Rate Study at Tuesday’s city council meeting. The city contracted with the firm back in January at the request of council.

Massive wildfires sweeping through California have killed at least 23 people and damaged thousands of homes, businesses and other buildings, authorities said. Firefighters were still battling 22 wildfires in multiple counties as of Thursday morning. Intensified by strong winds, the flames have charred more than 170,000 acres of land, damaged or destroyed at least 3,500 structures and forced nearly 20,000 residents to evacuate, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
