MN Paramedic Killed in Ambulance-Semi Crash

A Minnesota paramedic is dead after the ambulance she was riding in crashed into a stalled semi in the Twin Cities. The state patrol says the crash happened Monday night as the ambulance driver was changing lanes from Highway 694 to Interstate 94, and hit the back end of a semi that was being towed.

Forsythe Fire Station to be temporarily closed due to mold

Monroe City Fire Chief Terry Williams has announced the temporary closure of the Forsythe Fire Station (#6), effective immediately, due to a recent report of mold in the station.

The station is expected to be re-opened and fully operational by October 23rd.   


The response zone normally covered by the Forsythe Station will be covered by Olive Street, Barbados, and Breard Fire Stations until the work is complete at the Forsythe Station which may take approximately 7-10 days.


Residents living near the Forsythe Station may see a slight increase in response times during this period; however, this increase in time should be minimal.

Des Moines fugitive accused of firebombing apartment in attempt to kill family

King County Sheriff's detectives are asking for the public's help to find a fugitive accused of trying to kill his own 4 and 5 year old kids by burning down their apartment. Prosecutors have charged Edward Holmes II with Arson 1st Degree after investigators say he was seen on camera setting a fire in the building on 30th Avenue South in Des Moines on Tuesday , October 3.

Saginaw (MI) Announces Closure of Fire Station

The city of Saginaw is shutting down a fire station after announcing dozens of firefighters will be laid off. City officials announced Fire Station 3 will close. The announcement comes after FEMA refused to renew a $2 million grant for the city.
Earlier this week, the department announced it would be cutting staff from 51 firefighters to 38 come the new year.

Fire Chief Christopher Van Loo said that station will close its doors Jan. 31.

Appleton (WI) Fire Station to Close for Repairs

A fire station on Appleton's northeast side will close for repairs on Thursday.
The Appleton Fire Department says a sturctural engineer determined that the apparatus floor of Fire Station #4, 724 E. Greenfield St., needs to be repaired. While the repairs are done, the station will be closed for 8-10 weeks.

During that time, the engine company normally housed at the station will be moved to Station #6 on Lightning Drive. Firefighters housed at that station, along with Station #1 Drew Street, will cover Station #4's area. GPS will help the nearest crew respond to any call.
