Bluefield Schedules Unveiling Ceremony for New Fire Truck

BLUEFIELD - The Bluefield Fire Department has received a new 2017 Seagrave Pumper fire engine. An unveiling ceremony for the new fire truck will be held Tuesday, July 25, at 11 a.m. at the central fire station on Bluefield Avenue, according to City Manager Dane Rideout. The public is invited to attend the ceremony.

The new fire truck is custom designed and built to navigate the steep terrain that is common in Bluefield. Rideout said the new fire truck also has been outfitted with specific systems designed for the diverse mission sets provided by the region.


The new fire truck also is expected to help improve the city’s ISO (Insurance Service Office’s) rating.

New Rochelle Fire Department Unveils Latest Equipment Upgrades

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - Firefighters in New Rochelle have some new toys to use as they continue to keep the community safe.The New Rochelle Fire Department unveiled three new fire apparatus this week, brand new two new pumpers and a tower l...

“The two pumpers are each equipped with a 2000 gpm two-stage pump and carry 500 gallons of water," New Rochelle Fire Chief Lou DiMeglio said. "Their pumps make them suitable for service in commercial districts with taller buildings.”


The new equipment is equipped with computers and GPS and have LED lights that are brighter and more economical than those that are used in older apparatus. The new equipment replaces a 2004 and 2005 American LaFrance pumper, which is out of business and difficult and “all but impossible” to repair.

New Lake Saint Louis Fire Truck Hits the Road; New Firehouse to Come

Everything about the new gear and the new truck is meant to make firefighters' jobs easier, and faster, therefore making them able to respond better to an emergency in the community.
 
Funds are also going towards things like ladders that are now stored inside the truck to prevent dirt, grime and wear and tear, and individual places for tools make it easier for crews to access the life saving equipment.
 
But the biggest change is yet to come. The Lake Saint Louis Fire Protection District will build a new firehouse on Lake Saint Louis Boulevard, consolidating their two houses into one.

Update: Two under investigation for Mount Vernon fire that killed children

Two children died and three adults were injured in a fire Saturday morning, and now two people who had recently been evicted from the Mount Vernon-area home are in jail for investigation of arson and two counts of first-degree murder. The children were ages 8 and 6, according to the probable cause affidavit.
