'It was time to get him': Orting Valley Fire and Rescue Battalion Chief rams gate to save man from pit bull attack

A fire chief said he had to take matters into his own hands when a UPS driver was attacked by pit bulls. Orting Valley Fire and Rescue Battalion Chief Steve Goodwin said he rammed a gate when someone at the house refused to open it. The rolling chain-link gate in question is back upright now after the Fire Department crashed through it Wednesday.

White Bluff-Rye Hill Volunteer (AR) Fire Department Shows Off Fire Station, Vehicles

A local fire department provided residents the opportunity to become better acquainted with one of its stations this weekend.The White Bluff-Rye Hill Volunteer Fire Department held a meet and greet at its station at 14711 Rye Hill Road South in Fort Smith from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
A fact sheet provided at the event states fire department members began the remodeling project with members of the Sebastian County maintenance staff after the Sebastian County Quorum Court assigned the station to the department in April. Members of the department put in over 790 man hours from April through August in station remodeling and cleanup, not not including time spent training and working at its other two stations or on the trucks there. It also does not include the hours county maintenance staff contributed helping with painting, plumbing, electrical and other facets of the project.

Wichita (KS) Auction Includes Christmas Decor, Fire Apparatus, Airline Signs

The city of Wichita is conducting an online auction of its surplus vehicles, equipment and other property.
Trucks from the Wichita Fire Department and police cars are among the vehicles listed. City departments that have items in the auction: Parks and Recreation, Wichita Airport Authority, Central Maintenance, Water Utilities and Transit.
