Six fire stations are slated to close under Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett's 2018 budget proposal. The Milwaukee Fire Department announced the plans after Barrett's budget address on Tuesday. "It's always difficult to lose capacity," Fire Chief Mark Rohlfing said. "We're a very busy Fire Department."
The department has 36 stations and is proposing closing these six:
Station 3, 100 W. Virginia St.
Station 5, 1313 W. Reservoir Ave.
Station 6, 1693 N. Franklin Place, on the corner of Brady St.
Station 25, 300 S. 84th St.
Station 28, 424 N. 30th St.
Station 31, 2400 S. 8th St.
