Monroe City Council is still shaping what the new Central Fire Station will look like. During its work session Monday, Vincent Pastue, city manager, said there could be a "substantial" cost reduction with a single-story facility. "When the discussion of the fire station was at Scott St., we were looking at two stories," Pastue said.
Pastue said the cost reduction could be as much as $400,000.
“We do feel it does provide a better firefighter-PSO (public safety officer) integration and has greater flexibility for the police addition if we go that way,” Pastue said. “I think the scale is more fitting with the neighborhood.”
