Fire/EMS Purchases Land for New Station

The land that once housed a popular restaurant south of Jackson will be the new location of Jackson Hole Fire/EMS Station 3. The purchase was made official June 30, Battalion Chief Matt Redwine said. The price tag came in at just under $1.3 million.

Jackson Hole Fire/EMS outgrew its Hoback fire station years ago, Redwine said. And because the property at Hoback Junction is deed restricted, purchasing land that is not gives the department options to expand and even include employee housing.

New Battery-Powered Tools for SH Fire & Ambulance

SWEET HOME - New battery-powered extrication tools valued at nearly $65,000 have been delivered to the Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District, replacing equipment that is 28 years old. Fire Chief Dave Barringer said the new equipment is being paid for through a 31 cents per $1,000 property value bond approved by voters in 2016.

The tools include two cutters, two spreaders, two combination tools — cutter and spreader in one — and a ram.

The tools they are replacing are hydraulic, powered by a generator. The new ones are powered by long-lasting batteries.

“They are lighter, much faster and because they are battery-powered, they can go just about anywhere we need them,” Barringer said.
