IWE Transports Dennis Fire Engine to Boston

Logistics firm Independent Wholesale Express has transported a decommissioned fire engine to Boston, Massachusetts, from the UK. The Dennis 1995 Fire Engine was initially transported by road from Birmingham to the south coast where it was lashed to a flatbed. Once secured the cargo was transferred to an ocean vessel at the port of Felixstowe for shipment to Boston.
β€œThe fire engine arrived into the U.S., cleared customs, and was delivered to the museum in Boston where it can now be viewed as a piece of British manufacturing history, being one of the last models before Dennis Fire Engines closed their doors in 2001 after 100 years of trading,” a spokesperson for IWE said.

Fire guts roof of Tacoma building

Firefighters were busy Tuesday morning dousing a storage building that went up in flames. The call came in just before 1 a.m. for flames coming from a building in the 3500 block of 104th St. E. Firefighters from Central Pierce Fire arrived to find a large fire burning on the roof. They were able to get the fire under control a short time later.

Elderly woman receives 2nd degree burns from Richland house fire

An ambulance rushed an elderly woman with extensive 2nd degree burns to the hospital after firefighters found her on the floor of a burning home Monday evening. According to the Richland Fire Department, fire crews were called out at 6:34 P.M to 200 Adams St. for reports of smoke. RFD says neighbors had seen smoke coming from the home and knocked on the doors and windows to see if anyone was inside, but no one answered.

Chicago Fire Department Chief Suffers Massive Heart Attack, Dies

A Chicago Fire Department chief suffered a massive heart attack and died Sunday afternoon. Chief Michael V. Murphy, 56, was taking part in an aquatic event at Mount Carmel High School on the South Side with his 16-year-old son when he suffered a massive heart attack, according to a statement from the Chicago Fire Department.

Maryland firefighters go on trial for fire scene brawl
