Tacoma firefighters rescue dog after fall over bluff in Point Defiance Park

A dog tumbled 60 feet down a bluff in Point Defiance Park Monday and was rescued by Tacoma firefighters. Its owner was walking Bug, the 13-year-old border collie, in the park — something they do regularly — when the dog got too close to the edge and fell over. Several passers-by got a rope and were attempting to rappel down the cliff themselves to reach the dog when an off-duty Tacoma Fire Department lieutenant spotted them and advised them to wait.

At age 49, Brown flashes another image these days. “Hold Fast” is tattooed with the letters on his fingers just below the knuckles.

Fire Station that Housed 19 Fallen Arizona Firefighters Could Go on Sale

The fire station that housed Prescott's Granite Mountain Hotshots, and later served as a repository for the community's grief for the 19 fallen crew members, could go on the market soon.
That is the word from city officials, who reported this week that the two-and-a-half-month waiting period for sale of Station 7 produced no proposals by the May 1 deadline.

“We didn’t get anything from the families,” Prescott City Manager Michael Lamar said Friday, May 5.

With that, he said, “We’re probably going to list (the property) on the MLS (Multiple Listing Service).”

At the request of Hotshot family members, the council agreed to delay advertising the Station 7 parcel to allow time for an alternative plan.
