A woman was injured Thursday afternoon in a house fire here. Firefighters who were the first to arrive discovered her on the second floor of the home in the 9300 block of 143rd Street. Firefighters helped the woman out the front door. She was taken to Evergreen Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, the Kirkland Fire Department said.

Fortunately for fire districts/departments, the “Assistance to Firefighter Grant” (AFG) programs are safe for now.  This is because they fall under the umbrella of the Department of Homeland Security, one of three federal departments (along with Veteran’s Affairs and Defense) that, at this time, are escaping President Trump’s proposed budget cuts.
