North Las Vegas firefighters will get a new aerial ladder truck under a $1.3 million spending plan approved Wednesday night. The City Council agreed to buy the truck and accompanying firefighting equipment for $1.25 million from Pierce Manufacturing Inc.
The City Council agreed to buy the truck and accompanying firefighting equipment for $1.25 million from Pierce Manufacturing Inc. to replace a 10-year-old model that’s been out of service for more than three months due to mechanical problems, North Las Vegas Public Works Director Jennifer Doody said in a report.

After nearly a year of work, Grant County Fire District 5’s newest water tender is on the road for fire season.
The former propane truck, one of two chassis the district purchased for about $70,000 from Canada, was built by district personnel, not only allowing the district to save money, but giving them the ability to customize the tender with equipment they know works for wildfires in the area.

It's been burning for nearly a week, and we learned today that the fire on Bateman Island is racking up a hefty bill.
We can't give you an exact number, but Richland Fire Chief Tom Huntington estimates fighting this fire has cost close to $100,000. But unlike most wildfires that are funded by state or federal agencies, because Bateman Island is part of Richland city property, the bill for this fire is falling on the city's lap.

Recently retired Rochester Fire Chief Norm Sanborn says he can’t stay silent about his shock and displeasure that a longtime colleague wasn’t chosen to replace him.
The city announced this week that Bedford Deputy Fire Chief Mark Klose will succeed Sanborn as the head of the Rochester Fire Department.

Fresh from a two-day break in his first season as a wildland firefighter, Trenton Johnson was about to begin his first initial attack on a fire when disaster struck.
The 19-year-old Missoula man had just finished a two-week deployment mopping up a fire in Utah for Grayback Forestry Inc., an Oregon-based business with a firefighting contract to the U.
