Ohio officer accidentally ODs; firefighter says it's a new time for emergency personnel

An East Liverpool patrolman was recently rushed to the hospital after becoming exposed to fentanyl and carfentanil. Chris Greene was obtaining evidence during a traffic stop when fentanyl attached to his shirt. Police say driver Justin Buckle and passenger Cortez Collins had tried to get rid of evidence in the car.

Spokane County Fire breaks ground on new facillity

Deer Park and Spokane County Officials gathered to celebrate the groundbreaking of Spokane County Fire District 4's new facility. Station 41 has long been Spokane County Fire District 4's busiest station. "It's a big deal for the community," explained Chief Randy Johnson. "The station we're currently working out of we lease from the city of Deer Park , we've been there for 32 years.

Spokane County (WA) Breaks Ground on New Fire Station

Crews in Spokane County broke ground on a new fire station in Deer Park on Monday. The site of the new Spokane County District 4 station will be on Stevens Avenue and Crawford Avenue across from Deer Park City Hall. 
Spokane County District 4 has leased the current Station 41 buildings for 30 years. Station 41, which is the oldest facility in the district, handles the most calls of any station in District 4. The current facility is made up of two separate buildings and has become too small, so the district will be expanding and building a new station for fire crews.

Asbestos Dust Shuts Down Battle Creek (MI) Fire Station

The City of Battle Creek is closing one of its fire stations this week to clean up asbestos dust. Starting Monday, an asbestos abatement company will work to clean up the dust and clear the air at Fire Station No. 3 on Cliff Street.
According to a Sunday release from the city, crews were working to put in a new heating and cooling system last week when they cut holes into the ceiling and were exposed to asbestos dust.

Asbestos has been linked to diseases like asbestosis, lung cancer and mesothelioma, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
