The chief of the Spring Lake Park-Blaine-Mounds View Fire Department hopes his department can have two fully operational quint trucks in the near future, but only one new truck has been approved for now.
Fire Chief Charlie Smith in April appeared before the Blaine City Council to pitch the benefits of having two quint trucks. Features include a 500-gallon water tank, hoses that could pump 2,000 gallons of water per minute and a 109-foot ladder to better reach homes set back far from the curb or the higher roof lines of commercial, apartment or industrial buildings.
