Duluth (MN) Shows Off Two New Fire Apparatus

The Duluth Fire Department showed off two new fire engines on Monday -- engines specially designed to meet the needs of firefighters and the unique requirements of Duluth. The engines cost $550,000 apiece and feature upgraded brakes for Duluth's hills.

The clothing often contains cancer-causing carcinogens; the space provides a way to sequester the items, so firefighters can minimize their exposure to the chemicals.

Kevin Turner, president of the firefighter's union, said that firefighters are "extremely happy" to have the engine back because the closer an engine is to a blaze, the faster firefighters can respond.
