Firefighters returned to the Myrtle Grove Fire Station on Tuesday for the first time since the station was closed in June due to mold caused by a roof leak. Repairs to the 40-year-old building at 7209 Lillian Highway totaled $75,838 and included mold remediation, a new roof, new east and west walls, drywall and a new gutter system to ensure against future leaks.
During the time the station was closed, volunteer firefighters picked up their equipment when dispatched from the Lillian location and the full-time staff were housed and dispatched from the Osceola Fire Station
