Merging the two emergency dispatch centers that serve Snohomish County would save money and also solve a potential public safety issue related to call transfers between the two. Two people died in a house fire on Wetmore Avenue in Everett on Saturday morning. Everett city officials say when they arrived at the home at about 6 a.m. it was fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters were able to contain the fire in about 30 minutes but they found two people, an elderly woman and her daughter, deceased inside the home.

A fire that broke out at a food processing plant in Kent Friday night was accidental, a Puget Sound Fire investigator says. The fire was reported around 10:50 p.m. and started in a deep fryer, Kyle Ohashi with the Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority said. Firefighters arrived to find flames reaching to the top of the two-story building.
