WA Fire Truck, Police Car Struck in Separate Crashes

KENT, Wash. -- Was it something about the siren lights?The city of Kent will have to repair one of their police squad cars and a fire engine after they were struck in separate crashes by suspected drunk drivers Sunday.
A Kent (WA) fire engine and police squad car were struck by suspected drunked drivers Sunday, according to KOMO.

A Kent patrol car was rear-ended by one suspected drunken driver around 2 a.m., while later in the evening a Kent fire truck was struck head-on by another suspected drunken driver.

A Chugiak Volunteer Fire and Rescue vehicle was badly damaged in a collision Sunday on the Glenn Highway, according to KTVA.

A large SUV slid and hit the left side of the fire engine, which was parked on the roadway responding to another collision. No firefighters or civilians were apparently injured, but the apparatus was severely damaged.

Safe operations are a significant concern for responders operating on the roadways, especially in winter weather and similar conditions.

Gunshots Fired into Milwaukee Fire Station

MILWAUKEE -- At least six gunshots were fired into Milwaukee Fire Station 13 near 30th and Locust around 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 17th. At least one went through a window. Police are investigating whether the shooting was targeted or random. Just heard the bang, bang, bang, bang," said Dave Childs, neighbor.
Someone took aim at a Milwaukee (WI) fire station on Friday, but fortunately there were no injuries.

Police are investigating whether the shooting at Milwaukee Fire Station 13 was targeted or random, according to the local FOX affiliate.

"Those guys are there for us. I can't understand why they targeted the firehouse unless it was something personal," neighbor Dave Childs told reporters.

Budget for Clark County Fire District 3 strained because of workload

Clark County Fire District 3’s call volume has increased almost 40 percent in the past 10 years, the district said, prefacing a likely levy lid-lift proposal, which would mean a hike in district homeowners’ property taxes.
