VIDEO/PHOTOS: A plane pilot was rescued after crashing into the waters of Elliott Bay in Seattle Thursday evening. The FAA said Friday the aircraft was a single-engine Cessna 172.
The crash took place around 6 p.m. in the 2800 block of Alaskan Way, according to Seattle Fire Department (SFD) officials.

On Wednesday, the Spokane Valley Fire Department broke ground on a new training facility.
Officials say the new 13,000 square foot building will provide a positive learning environment for the department's future needs. The facility was made possible thanks to this year's maintenance and operations levy.

VIDEO: South County firefighters were called to an Everett home on Tuesday to provide aid to an elderly couple who were working on their yard... and then stuck around to help finish the yardwork themselves.
According to the department on Facebook, South County firefighters from Ladder 14 helped transport the couple to a local hospital for an unspecified emergency.

A Mercer County neighborhood was evacuated Thursday morning after a warehouse fire.
The fire broke out around 12:30 a.m. at the warehouse on Whitehead Road. Video from the scene showed flames were spilling out from windows.
Smoke was billowing above the buildings after 6 a.m. Chuck Hector, who works at a building across the road, said the fire sparked explosions and jets of flame were shooting up into the air.

PHOTOS: The Paintsville Fire Department has welcomed the artistic contributions of local students and others to help bring some color into Station 1.
According to PFD Firefighter Ryan Barker, the culmination of a three-year project has led to an exercise in community togetherness, celebrating the artistry of local students and others as they have, in turn, shown their support for local firefighters.
