Deborah Farnes looked forward to the day she would testify about the March 22, 2014, Oso landslide that killed her husband, Tom Durnell, while she was away at work at a hospital in Everett.
She hoped to share her grief over the loss of her spouse and 42 other people, and the anger that followed as she learned – for the first time – about the scope of the hazards posed by the hillside that came crashing down during that awful spring day three years ago.

The Marysville Fire District has presented a Phoenix Award to three North County Regional Fire Authority responders who helped save the life of one of Marysville’s own paramedics.
North County paramedic Eric Johnson and firefighters Patrick Fournier and Blake Churchill were at the North County Regional Fire Station when Kim Johnson drove up with her husband, Kevin, who had gone into full cardiac arrest.

Lacey Fire District 3 firefighters rescued a woman and her dog from a burning house Monday afternoon.
The woman suffered burns and smoke inhalation and was taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital. The dog received oxygen, Lacey Battalion Chief Pat Harn said.
Lacey police arrived first about 1:20 p.m.

Standing at 6’9", City of Miami Fire Chief Maurice L. Kemp is not only literally a towering figure at the department, but the 32-year vet is a respected leader within the city of Miami.
After more than decades of service with the City of Miami Department of Fire Rescue, Chief Kemp is retiring.

Memories come in all shapes and sizes. Chris Fields has a trunkfull, packed away from a 31-year career as an Oklahoma City firefighter. From fighting infernos to rescuing pets, Fields has done it all.
"You roll up and prepare yourself for what you're going to see," Fields says.
But nothing could have prepared Chris for April 19, 1995.
