Bill would make Honolulu first jurisdiction in U.S. to require nightclubs, bars to keep Narcan on hand

As the number of fentanyl overdoses soars on Oahu, the City Council is debating whether to arm bartenders with Narcan, a nasal spray that can reverse an opioid overdose. A bill before the body would make Honolulu the first jurisdiction in the country to mandate all bars, night clubs and restaurants that serve alcohol have Narcan on site.

Rescue crews in Snohomish County participate in water rescue training

VIDEO: With the hot weather drawing more people to the water, first responders are standing by for potential rescues. The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office hosted a multi-agency water rescue training at Davies Beach in Lake Stevens to prepare for the risks this season. "We try to make our training as realistic as possible and predict scenarios and locations, and we make sure that our rescue swimmers are ready for it," said Jamal Beckham, lead of the rescue unit for Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue.

10 people treated for exposure as Seattle apartment building evacuated for unknown substance

An apartment building in Seattle was evacuated Tuesday afternoon while firefighters investigate an unknown substance, according to the Seattle Fire Department. Just after 1 p.m., firefighters responded to a hazardous materials report at an apartment building in the 6900 block of Martin Luther King Jr.
