Renovations Completed at Valley Fire Station (NM)

Recent renovations to the Valley Fire Department Station 1 here have made life more comfortable for its volunteer firefighters. The renovations, which total more than $870,000 in cost, are nearly complete, and firefighters returned to the station about two weeks ago. The public can see the changes during a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 2 p.m.
The Valley Fire Department has 47 volunteer firefighters, including approximately seven firefighters who transferred in at the beginning of the month when the Navajo Nation took over operations at the Shiprock, Newcomb and Ojo Amarillo fire stations.

Valley Fire is the busiest of the San Juan County Fire Department districts. This year, it has received more than 1,700 calls, and expects to reach 2,000 calls before the end of the year.

Harnett County (NC) Ambulance Engulfed in Flames

A Harnett County ambulance caught fire in Cumberland County Sunday morning, prompting firefighters to rush to the scene and extinguish the flames. The ambulance was fully engulfed by 7:15 a.m.
The ambulance was fully engulfed by 7:15 a.m. in a vacant lot on Wake Stedman Road near the northbound exit for I-95.

The Wade Fire Department responded to the blaze. ABC11 is waiting on the fire chief to provide additional details.

It is not yet known what caused the ambulance to go up in flames. We are still waiting to hear if anyone was injured.

One Dead, Six Injured in Louisville (KY) Accident Involving Ambulance

At least one person has died and six people were injured Monday afternoon in a fatal accident near Shively on Cane Run Road. According to MetroSafe, the crash occurred around 1:20 p.m., at the intersection of Cane Run Road and Shanks Lane and involved a Louisville EMS ambulance.
A preliminary investigation determined that the ambulance was traveling north on Cane Run Road when it was struck by an SUV, which was traveling westbound. The SUV rolled over into two vehicles, which were stopped at a red light going southbound.

The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene, Mitchell said. Their identity has not yet been released by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office.

Mitchell Burmeister, spokesman for Emergency Management Services, said six people were transported to University of Louisville Hospital with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries. Three of the injured were Emergency Management Services employees while another was a patient inside the ambulance.

Driver Seriously Hurt After Crash with Vancouver (WA) Fire Apparatus

A minivan and a Vancouver fire engine collided early Monday as the fire crew was returning from the scene of a commercial fire. A release from the fire department said the crash, which occurred around 8:30 a.m.
Emergency responders had to extract the driver from the vehicle before heading to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The investigation temporarily closed a potion of Northeast 162nd Street.

The driver was alone in the minivan and there were no other injuries, per the fire department release.
