Driver injured in crash with Sounder train in Seattle neighborhood

A man was injured when a car collided with a Sounder commuter train Tuesday afternoon. The crash happened around 4 p.m. as the Southline Sounder Train No. 1513 passed the Holgate Street crossing near 3rd Avenue in Seattle's SoDo neighborhood, officials said. The man driving the car was trapped inside the wreckage and firefighters had to tear the roof off the car to free him.

Lebanon (OH) Fire Chief Fired After Fire Apparatus Accident

The Lebanon Fire Chief Perry Gerome was fired Monday after a traffic accident involving a fire truck. "As a result of an investigation conducted by City Manager Pat Clements regarding a traffic accident involving one of the City's Fire Engines, it was determined that City policies and procedures were not followed," a statement said from the city.
Officials said the firing was "in light of previous disciplinary action."

Gerome was suspended after being accused of using city fire trucks to stage a mock fire scene as part of a birthday party at his home earlier this year, according to a city spokesperson.

He is also accused of using city-owned chainsaws to remove storm damage from his property.

Two People Hurt in Collision in St. Augustine (FL) Fire Apparatus

Two people were taken to the hospital after a pickup and a fire truck collided on State Road 206 in St. Augustine Tuesday afternoon. Fire officials say that the crash happened just before 2:30 and say they aren't sure how it happened. The fire truck is a ladder-carrying truck with two separate drivers.
None of the firefighters were hurt, but two passengers in the pickup had to be taken to Flagler Hospital, says St. Johns County Fire Rescue spokesperson Jeremy Robshaw.

Puget Sound Energy Failure Cause Of Greenwood Explosion, Report Finds

An “improperly abandoned” Puget Sound Energy (PSE) gas pipeline was the cause of an explosion in Greenwood that leveled two buildings and damaged nearly three dozen businesses in March 2016, a new report finds. PSE could be subject to up to $3.2 million in penalties. The Washington Utilities And Transportation Commission released the report Tuesday.

Suspicious fire destroys car near Pasco housing complex

Police are looking into a suspicious fire that burned a car outside a Pasco Housing Authority complex on Monday night. The fire was noticed about midnight in the backseat of a 1994 Chevy Lumina parked on the 200 block of West Margaret Street. Flames engulfed the car, police said. The fire is under investigation by police and fire officials.
