A fire at the Alcoa Intalco Works aluminum smelter led to a major emergency response Thursday afternoon, Sept. 22.
Crews from four fire districts, as well as Alcoa’s own fire crews, were called to the scene at 4050 Mountain View Road around 4 p.m. Light smoke was reported coming from a building at the facility.

Exactly one year after firefighter Rob Rochette found himself consumed by a massive fireball while battling an East Main Street blaze that left him seriously burned, he returned to work Thursday for his first shift since the fire. It’s been a tough year of recovery, but for Rochette, 34, there’s no place he would rather be than with his brothers from Engine 2.

Eight Russian firefighters were killed as they battled a blaze at a warehouse in eastern Moscow, authorities said Friday, in the latest deadly fire to hit the capital.
Their bodies were discovered after contact was lost as they fought to extinguish a huge blaze that started Thursday evening at a plastics depot, the emergency services ministry said in a statement.

VIDEO - At least one person was seriously injured after a fire truck was rear-ended in Cinnaminson, Burlington County.
It happened around 8:20 p.m. Thursday at Broad Street and Union Landing Road.
Chopper 6 captured the scene that showed a car slammed into the rear of a Riverton fire truck.
Fire officials say they took the driver of the car to Cooper University Hospital for care.
