Quick-thinking neighbors pulled a man from his second-floor apartment when a fire broke out in the Auburn building early Monday morning, the Valley Regional Fire Authority reported. The rescued man, in his early 40s, was stabilized and transported to Harborview Medical Center by King County Medic One.

A St. John the Baptist Parish district fire chief was one of two people killed in a crash on westbound Interstate 10 near LaPlace, officials told WDSU. A spokesperson with the Louisiana State Police said Spencer Chauvin was killed Sunday in the crash. He was a district chief for the St. John the Baptist Parish Office of Fire Services.

Minnesota State Patrol have identified the Beartown Firefighters killed in the fatal crash in Blaine, Minnesota on Saturday. According to police, 25-year-old Alan J. Swartz of Baraga, and 23-year-old James F. Shelifoe of Baraga were killed in the crash when their truck drove off the road, struck the median cable, and rolled several times.

A battle could be brewing between two public entities that represent the citizens of Menlo Park. A board member for the fire district Thursday night said he is tired of the district being "nice guys" regarding a years-long effort to purchase land from the city where it has operated a fire station in Belle Haven for 21 years and is planning to build a larger station to deal with planned growth.
