Adoptive family will return dog to Washington firefighter

After fighting a wildfire in Eastern Washington, Williams Jones of Battle Ground realized that his black Lab, Hunter, had run away from the dog sitter, was picked up by an animal shelter and adopted by another family. Although the family was reluctant to return the dog to Jones last week, they had a change of heart over the weekend, according to the Humane Society for Southwest Washington.

Overnight fires destroy Arlington home, damage Seattle nursery

Two local fires - one at a North Seattle greenhouse and one at a home in Arlington - caused considerable damage overnight, but no one was injured in either blaze. Crews responded to the greenhouse fire, at Swanson's Nursery in the 9700 block of 15th Avenue NW, at about 2:15 a.m. after receiving calls about flames and smoke coming from a building there.

Multiple homes lost in Spokane Complex Fire

The Wellesley Fire and Yale Fire are now being referred to as the Spokane Complex Fire. The Wellesley Fire began Sunday and was burning 250 acres. Officials said the fire is 100 percent lined. Level three evacuations are still in place for Valley Springs, Thierman Road and Joseph Lane. Valley Springs to Lions Road is also being evacuated.
