'Rotting garbage' causes fire on barge in Duwamish Waterway near West Seattle

A fire that broke out on a barge full of shipping containers on the Duwamish Waterway near West Seattle on Monday was caused by rotting garbage inside one of those containers, according to fire investigators. The fire broke out just before 4 p.m. Monday, at the Alaska Marine Lines terminal located along West Marginal Way Southwest, and set off a massive hazmat team response.

Frank Spaan Intended Successor Eef Bos as CFO of TenCate

Eef Bos has decided to step down as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of TenCate as of 1 October 2016. "Since the company entered into a new phase of its development, this is for me a natural moment to leave TenCate."

The Supervisory Board of TenCate thanks Eef Bos for his contribution and involvement with TenCate in the past years. The Supervisory Board has the intention to nominate Frank Spaan for appointment as his successor by the General Meeting of Shareholders as per 1 October 2016.

After this appointment the Executive Board of TenCate will consist of Jan Albers, CEO and Frank Spaan, CFO.

Port Ludlow Fire & Rescue adds new ambulance

Port Ludlow Fire &Rescue has a new $225,000 ambulance. The ambulance from Horton Emergency Vehicles arrived on Tuesday, according to fire district officials in a news release. The purchase allows the district to rotate current units into reserve, reducing the mileage and wear on the other units and extending the life cycle of those units, officials said.

Regional: After 2 bad fire years, this fire season light in Northwest

After two consecutive years in which wildfires set acreage records in Washington state, this fire season has been very light. In fact, wildfires have been smaller and less destructive in Washington, Oregon and Idaho this year thanks to a heavy winter snowpack and some rain in the spring and summer months.
