After a firefighter was asked to remove a flag honoring the officers killed in recent shootings in Dallas and Baton Rouge from his fire truck, Southern California residents took to social media to criticize the move Wednesday.
Moreno Valley firefighter Eric Hille is so passionate about supporting the fallen officers of Baton Rouge and Dallas police he bought a flag and added a blue line to it.
"It's a tough time right now in this country for law enforcement," Hille said.
That's why Hille says he placed the flag on the back of his team's Cal Fire Riverside County Fire engine.
He also put the blue-striped American flag on the door to show his support.
"We just wanted to let them know that we stand shoulder-to-shoulder in solidarity with you," Hille said.
Word traveled fast on social media with many people thanking Hille and his crew for their support. A neighbor across the street from Station 48 even put up a "thank you" sign in the yard.
