Kennewick shed fire sends one woman to the hospital

Firefighters rushed to a call of a fire and explosions at a Kennewick home late Thursday night. It happened around 9:20 p.m. Officers say they responded to reports of a large shed on fire, an explosion, and an unconscious woman lying down by the shed. The 50-year-old woman was uncooperative, and transported to Trios.

North Carolina firefighter collapses during workout, later dies at hospital

A firefighter with Alexis Fire Department went out for a jog while on duty Thursday morning but never made it back to the fire station. "He was an outstanding person, great guy to be around and he loved the fire service and everything it stood for," said Lt. Robert Drew of Alexis Fire Department. According to officials, firefighter Joshua Warren had just returned from a medical call when he took part in a physical fitness training at East Lincoln Middle School.

Georgia fire officers named in wrongful death suit filed over retirement home fire

Columbia County and several fire and rescue employees have been named in a $15 million wrongful death lawsuit over the fatal fire at the Marshall Square retirement community last year. The suit was filed Thursday by Barbara Ellington, the last surviving daughter of Dorothy Carpenter, the lone resident who died in the fire.
