City-owned trucks destroyed, damaged by arson in Bellingham; suspect at large

A city-owned truck was destroyed and five others sustained damage during an arson incident overnight, police said. The suspect got away and remains at large. Washington firefighter works 50th fire season

As firefighters across the state prepare for another wildfire season in Washington, one man is preparing for his 50th and final season on the fireline. Brock Shero is on the Northwest Incident Management team and has decided to retire after he finishes his fifth decade of service later this year. “I’ve seen a lot of challenges, I’ve seen a lot of changes, the one thing that hasn’t really changed is the hand tools we use, they're the same we started with 50 years ago,” Shero said.

100-year-old warehouse destroyed by fire overnight in downtown Olympia

A 100-year-old warehouse was destroyed early Tuesday after a massive fire tore through a city block in downtown Olympia. Fallen Seattle firefigher honored at Boeing Field

It remains the deadliest fire in Seattle's history. 32 people died when a B-29 prototype bomber crashed into the Frye Meatpacking Plant in the SoDo neighborhood. Among the dead was Luther Bonner, 23, a relatively new member of Seattle's firefighting ranks. He was killed after being overcome by gases released when the plant's refrigeration lines were severed.

Arsonist kicks in door, sets fire to Montana rescue truck, fire hall

PHOTO - Authorities are trying to figure out who broke into the Smith Valley fire hall on Foys Lake Road late Saturday night or early Sunday morning and set a fire that caused massive damage.
