Fire District 1 honored several retirees on Tuesday during a ceremony at Martha Lake Fire Station 21.
They are: Capt. Jim Grieco and Firefighters Mike Fischer, Mike Hill, David Krugmire and Jack Weinz, Jr.
Fire District 1 is the largest provider of fire and emergency medical services in Snohomish County, with full-time staffing at 12 fire stations.

The mayor of Everett is lodging his disappointment with hang-ups with the new 911 dispatching software called New World Systems.
The flashpoint came when fire officials encountered serious problems from 911 dispatch while tackling the massive warehouse fire along the Everett waterfront June 4.
It took more than 20 minutes for 911 dispatchers to be able to kickstart the software to escalate the fire level to deploy additional fire departments to the scene.

Firefighters said they saw a man masquerading as one of them to collect cash from motorists along Meridian Street Sunday, June 19.
The reported sightings came just days after the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 106’s Fill the Boot campaign on Thursday and Friday, June 16 and 17. During the annual, nationwide fundraiser, firefighters volunteered their own time on busy street corners, empty boots in-hand, to ask stopped motorists for cash.

A Pulaski County homeowner charged in the fatal shooting of a firefighter during a medical response earlier this year pleaded innocent Monday in circuit court.
Mark Pruitt, 48, is charged with manslaughter in the death of Ronald Jason Adams, 29, a volunteer with the East Pulaski Fire Department, Arkansas Online previously reported.

A Portland Fire & Rescue inspector had forgotten his food in a taxi and was chasing after it in a city van when he crashed last month, court records show.
James R. Morelli, 54, had taken the taxi home after drinking at a bar, then realized he left his food inside after the cab drove off, according to a search warrant.
