Honolulu firefighter succumbs to injuries received during training

Fire Fighter III Clifford Rigsbee has died from injuries in rescue watercraft training. Rigsbee lost his life in the line of duty from injuries sustained during Rescue Water Craft training off of Diamond Head on Tuesday, June 14, 2016. He was rescued and brought to shore by fellow fire fighters, including an off-duty fire fighter.

Firefighter Sues City of Lynden, Claims He Was Denied Full-Time Employment

A Washington state firefighter has filed suit claiming he was denied full-time employment and removed from a part-time position on account of his Middle-Eastern descent and non-citizenship. Damon Winters filed suit in April in US District Court in Seattle against the City of Lynden and Assistant Chief Robert Spinner.

Everett mayor to tech company: Emergency system failures unacceptable

Mayor Ray Stephanson heard about the dispatching failures during Everett's recent three-alarm warehouse fire, and he's not happy. Stephanson on Wednesday sent a pointed letter to New World, the technology company responsible for Snohomish County's balky 8-month-old emergency dispatching software. In the letter, he referred to the troubles as “simply unacceptable” and said continued problems could put people in danger.
