A firefighter with Alexis Fire Department went out for a jog while on duty Thursday morning but never made it back to the fire station.
"He was an outstanding person, great guy to be around and he loved the fire service and everything it stood for," said Lt. Robert Drew of Alexis Fire Department.
According to officials, firefighter Joshua Warren had just returned from a medical call when he took part in a physical fitness training at East Lincoln Middle School.

Columbia County and several fire and rescue employees have been named in a $15 million wrongful death lawsuit over the fatal fire at the Marshall Square retirement community last year. The suit was filed Thursday by Barbara Ellington, the last surviving daughter of Dorothy Carpenter, the lone resident who died in the fire.

Fueled by hot and dry weather, wildfires threatened homes in California and other Western states as crews struggled to corral flames that have scorched miles of brush and timber.
About 140 homes and ranches were considered at risk in California, where a 1,400-acre fire was tearing through coastal canyons west of Santa Barbara, scorching an area that hadn’t burned in 60 years.

On June 14, the nonprofit Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition’s (HFSC) spokesperson Ron Hazelton narrated a side-by-side fire sprinkler demonstration for attendees at the National Fire Protection Association’s (NFPA) annual Conference & Expo in Las Vegas to celebrate the organization’s 20th anniversary. The demonstration was held at Desert Fire Protection, a local sprinkler contractor.
