More firefighters arrived in Snohomish County Saturday night to fight a 325-acre wildfire that's burning near Gold Bar.
Steady rain throughout the day Saturday helped firefighters catch a much-needed break on the fire lines. The fire is 10 percent contained, officials with the Washington State Department of Natural Resources said Saturday night.

Whitman County Rural Fire District 12 Chief Lester Erwin's interest in fire service was first sparked when he was a young boy.
"When I lived in Albion, the fire siren would go off and the chief would go flying by our house, and I would chase after him on my bike," the 56-year-old said. Erwin said he would watch the crews load into their engines and he often followed the trucks if the call was close by.

Firefighters are investigating a fire that burned a shed sitting behind a family's home.
The fire happened in the 1600 block of South 6th Avenue Sunday afternoon.
Firefighters say the fire started in one shed which spread to another shed and also onto the outside of the home.
They say the fire never reached the inside of the home.

Local firefighters in training now have the skills to help put out flames that spread quickly over open fields.
Something fire officials say is crucial, as the upcoming fire season quickly approaches.
"It does take some arm power but you get used to it and it's a lot of fun," said Yakima County Fire District 5 volunteer Brenda Torres.
