Perception is a process by which we use our senses to gather information about what is happening in the environment around us. To do this, we must be paying attention, be mindful and be all-in. I wasn’t. I was focused heavily on my educational endeavors, which was completely understandable. Trying to balance a demanding full-time job with home life and the activities of four kids while dedicating 20-plus hours a week to school created many competing demands for my attention.

Granger home "near-total loss" after candle starts fire

Granger officials say a home is a "near-total loss" after a fire early Thursday morning. It started just after 4 a.m. in the 100 block of West Boulevard South. Firefighters say the people inside were using candles, and one of the candles caught some bedding on fire. The home did not have any power to it.

Granger home "near-total loss" after candle starts fire

New Report: Conway Firefighter Killed Trying to Jump onto Fire Truck

The South Carolina Department of Public Safety has released its initial incident report that describes what happened the day that Conway firefighter Christopher Ray was killed. The report says the driver of the fire engine was attempting to back up at the house fire on Hickory Circle in Conway.
