The first paid female firefighter in Snohomish County retired Monday after 33 years of service.
Janet Jaeger also served as the first paid female lieutenant and first battalion chief for Snohomish County Fire District 7.
"I just wanted to be a firefighter, more than anything," Jaeger said Monday, looking back at her career.

Officials say a Bellevue man called 911 to say he was planning to set fire to his house before the home went up in flames.
The 52-year-old man, who has not been identified, called 911 Monday afternoon and told dispatchers he was going to set fire to his house on SE 4th Street, according to the Bellevue Fire Department.

Snohomish County Fire District 1 crews teamed up with Lynnwood firefighters to put out flames coming from a three-story house in the 13700 block of 65th Place West in unincorporated Edmonds.
Neighbors and passersby reported the fire around 1:15 p.m. on Monday.
“Firefighters could see the smoke from several blocks away as they approached the scene,” Leslie Hynes, spokeswoman for Snohomish County Fire District 1, said.
