Bill to allow livestock owners to retrieve cattle in fires moves through legislature

Neil Kayser knows the damage a wildfire can cause livestock operations. Kayser, a fourth-generation rancher from the Goldendale area, lost several head of cattle in last year’s Cougar Creek fire near Mount Adams. He’s also bypassed roadblocks to save his livestock from advancing fires. “A cow, to us, is like a factory,” Kayser said in a phone interview last week.

Arlington apartment fire involved hoverboard

An apartment unit in Arlington was damaged after a fire that involved a hoverboard, fire officials said. Crews responded after a report of a fire in the apartment. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire. No injuries were reported. According to officials, the apartment had minor damages.

Burton Fire Department's (MI) 1969 GMC Brush Appratus Up for Sale

Burton's fire department is auctioning off its 1969 GMC brush truck. While the truck has a lot of history in the community -- not only has it made decades of parade appearances, but it was built in Flint with the tank hand-built by firefighters and the lettering hand-done - the department now feels it is financially irresponsible of them to keep it, the report says.
The truck, which was purchased brand new for Burton Fire Station 2 to fight brush and grass fires was replaced with a new GMC with a larger tank that will be easier to maintain.
