Seattle: Man killed, toddler survives after tree falls on car in Seward Park

A man and a toddler were inside a vehicle hit by a tree Sunday afternoon in Seattle’s Seward Park. Seattle Fire officials said the man is dead, but a passerby was able to rescue the little girl from the backseat of the vehicle. She had minor injuries, and was released from Harborview Medical Center this evening.

Pennsylvania firefighter dies after responding to fire

A veteran Hanover firefighter died after responding to a fire in West Manheim Township Saturday morning. Around 9:30 a.m., Earl J. Shoemaker, 68, was the driver of Hanover Fire Department's Air 46 unit when the truck went off Brunswick Drive and into a field -- traveling as far as several hundred yards.

8 Maryland firefighters injured in 3-alarm house fire with structural collapse

An overnight three alarm town house fire in Germantown has sent several firefighters to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Six weeks into his tenure as Hartford's fire chief, Reginald Freeman has started to personalize his office at the public safety complex on High Street.Among the plaques and framed pictures is a photograph on the shelf behind his desk.
