Update: East County Fire and Rescue plans to sell Bear Prairie station

It will now take longer for East County Fire and Rescue crews to reach calls that come in from the Bear Prairie area. On Jan. 19 the ECFR Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a plan to close Station 96 and sell the 5-acre property that is the site of a 2,949 square foot house built in 1983. The parcel was purchased by ECFR for $525,000 in 2008 to house a firefighter and fire equipment to serve the northeast corner of the fire district.

Battle Ground transition to Clark County Fire District 3 going smoothly

Since officially taking over the fire and emergency service contract for the city of Battle Ground on Jan. 1 of this year, both city and fire officials are in agreement that the transition to contracting with Clark County Fire District 3 is going well. “The logistical transition from CCFR (Clark County Fire & Rescue) to FD3 (Fire District 3) went very well due to the professionalism of both of those organizations,” said Bonnie Gilberti, city of Battle Ground executive assistant/public information officer.

Woman sent to hospital after fire destroys Cowlitz County home

One person was sent to the hospital after a fire consumed a Lexington home Tuesday morning. Bryan Ditterick, spokesman for Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue, said there were three people at the home, on the 100 block of Lexington Avenue, when Cowlitz 2 firefighters arrived. It’s unclear whether all three people were residents of the home.
