New phone system helps Oklahoma airport firefighters respond quicker to emergencies

VIDEO: Tulsa International Airport (TIA) has upgraded its phone system to alert first responders in the event of an emergency. It’s called a crash phone system. TIA firefighters told FOX23 they’ve waited a long time for this new system. It costs around $100,000, and firefighters said the equipment is vital.

County in New York giving tax breaks to volunteer firefighters to fill depleted ranks

Greene County will give volunteer emergency responders a break on property taxes in an attempt to recruit and retain firefighters and EMTs as their numbers continue to decline across the state. The move takes advantage of a law signed by Gov. Kathy Hochul in December giving counties a standardized way to give the breaks.

The job outlook after Seattle, King County lift COVID-19 vaccine mandate for employees

Woman killed, forklift driver arrested for DUI after crash on Aurora Ave in Seattle

A woman was killed Tuesday afternoon when a man suspected of driving under the influence (DUI) while operating a forklift caused a multi-vehicle collision on Aurora Avenue North. The collision was reported around 3:30 p.m. and was still blocking all north and southbound lanes of Aurora Avenue North at North 96th Street just before 5 p.
