Nerves rattled after fire set at Ethiopian Orthodox Church in Seattle

Police are investigating a fire that appears to have been intentionally set at a church in South Seattle Tuesday morning. A priest with the Ethiopian Orthodox church on Martin Luther King Way near Holly Street said the church's fire alarm went off around 7:30 a.m. He investigated to find a scarf on their front door that was on fire.

New Eastside Fire and Rescue fire chief to take office Feb. 11

Come next week, Eastside Fire and Rescue will officially have a new fire chief. Jeff Clark, of Chandler, Arizona, will take the oath of office next week at the Eastside Fire board meeting Feb. 11 at 4 p.m. Eastside Fire and Rescue serves the communities of Issaquah, Sammamish, North Bend, King County Fire Districts 10 and 38.

Memorial Information: Chief Doug McNall

The Everett Fire Department is saddened to report the passing of retired Fire Chief Doug McNall. Doug passed away on January 30, 2016.

Doug joined the Everett Fire Department in November 1962, was appointed Everett’s Fire chief in June 1980, and retired as Fire Chief following a successful career in January 1990. In what may be an unprecedented career in the fire service, Chief McNall was a prominent leader throughout his career and exemplified unselfish dedication regarding matters involving firefighters. During his meritorious service, Doug was honored to serve as President – Everett Firefighters Local 350; President – Everett Firefighters Association; President – Washington State Council of Firefighters; and President – Washington Fire Chiefs Association. Chief McNall was well known as an effective leader, planner, and gentleman who could achieve results and consensus on important issues. Doug is acknowledged as a credit to his profession...
