Connecticut Firefighters Save One Of Their Own

The call came into the Thompsonville Fire Department at a change of shift on a Monday evening in November — an unresponsive 52-year-old male on Russell Street. Firefighters arrived at the home, and said there was some initial confusion. Then, firefighter Tom O'Brien saw a familiar person standing in the driveway — fellow Thompsonville firefighter Ernie Bouthiette's 16-year-old son.

1 dead, 4 hurt when SUV crashes into semi-truck carrying frozen fish near Sea-Tac

One person is dead and four others were hurt when a semi-truck carrying frozen fish collided with an SUV on I-5 near SeaTac late Saturday night. Washington State troopers said the 42-year-old woman killed in the rollover crash was not wearing a seat belt. Troopers said an SUV carrying three people crossed the center line while traveling southbound near 200th Street exit and collided with the semi.

Yakima firefighter saves newborn baby left at fire station on Christmas Eve

Joanna Albrecht's overnight shift was over by 6 a.m., and she was tempted to skip her morning workout before going home. But she persevered and was about to turn on her music when she paused. She thought she heard crying outside. The firefighter was curious that someone would be outside Station 92, on Tieton Drive, of the Yakima Fire Department with a baby that early.
