The family of a Cashmere teen who set fire to a pallet stack agreed to pay $47,600 to businesses affected by the arson.
The agreement between Blue Star Growers, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway and the parents of Thomas Leo “Trey” Ercanbrack III resolves the case against the 18-year-old defendant, who pleaded guilty last summer to setting the fire on Blue Star’s lot in Cashmere.

A long-abandoned house burned to the ground near Ferndale on Saturday, Dec. 26, and firefighters say the cause could be arson.
The house, located at 5394 Hovander Road near Tennant Lake, was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived around 9:45 p.m. Saturday. Three fire engines and one water tender were unable to save the abandoned house, said District 7 Fire Chief Gary Russell.

A Soap Lake man allegedly assaulted a firefighter at the scene of a three-vehicle collision in Ephrata and kicked out a window on a police vehicle.
Grant County prosecutors charged Omar Herrera, 20, of Soap Lake, with first-degree malicious mischief (public service interruption) and third-degree assault (firefighter) in Grant County Superior Court.
