Burned SUV With a Body Inside Found Near a Richland Neighborhood

Law enforcement is investigating an SUV fire that burned the body inside, just behind a Richland neighborhood. There is not a lot of information at this time. Shortly after 1 p.m. neighbors in the area near of Rand Drive called and reported an SUV on fire and that a body may be inside. When firefighters got to the scene, they discovered there in fact was a body burned inside as a result of that fire.

Yakima County moving closer to emergency alert system

All of Yakima County is getting closer to being able to get alerts in times of an emergency. The city of Yakima and the county have worked out a mass notification system where they'd be able to text or email people in emergencies. It would work with people signing up and also through cell phone towers.

East Pierce Fire & Rescue receives award for breast cancer fundraising

East Pierce Fire and Rescue firefighters were recognized last week for their efforts during the annual Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a Why I Pink Award presented by Opes Advisors, a west coast mortgage and wealth management company with offices in Enumclaw, Seattle, Kirkland and Spokane. The company sponsored the Why I Pink campaign to bring awareness to all cancers, says Sara Monzo, Opes Advisors, Pacific Northwest director of marketing.
