One man was injured after rescuing his kids from a fire at a duplex Monday night south of Everett, officials said.
Crews responded to the blaze, in the 400 block of Center Road, at about 8 p.m. after receiving reports of smoke and flames coming from the duplex, said Leslie Hynes of Snohomish County Fire District 1.

A fire destroyed a mobile home in Mead in the early hours of Monday.
A family of six lived in the home but was away at the time because they did not have power after Tuesday's historic storm. They are all okay.
Firefighters said the roofed collapsed as they arrived and the home burned to the ground.

Snohomish County Fire District 1 wants to change how it charges property owners, in a way the district says could be fairer for most taxpayers.
There's a hitch, though. Even if voters give the thumbs up, there's no room for another charge on the tax bills sent by the Snohomish County's treasurer's office.
