Push by neighbors brings fire service to Eagle Ridge in Southwest Spokane

Around the clock service at Fire Station 5 in Southwest Spokane began Monday afternoon. The fire station on W. Eagle Ridge Blvd. now provides 24 hour fire and emergency medical service to Southwest Spokane. Fire officials said calls for service have been growing in southwest Spokane, with medical calls accounting for 87 percent of total emergency calls city wide.

Trapped residents leap from 2nd floor of burning complex in Lakewood

Two people were injured when they jumped from the second floor of a residential complex that went up in flames early Tuesday in Lakewood, fire officials said. Crews responded to the scene, at 7508 Cody St. in Lakewood, at about 5 a.m. after receiving reports of smoke and flames spewing from a four-plex.
