Phoenix fire captains' certifications in jeopardy

The Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board presented its case against former Phoenix Fire Captains, Sam Richardson and Fred Andes, during its board meeting. The case stems from a citizen complaint filed by Barbara Sloan, regarding the captains investigation of the 2009 fire at her home in which they concluded was arson.

New York's Fire Prevention and Building Code vote brings heated debate

It was the most emotionally charged debate at the state Capitol complex since the end of the legislative session. And it occurred in the most unlikely of settings. The state Fire Prevention and Building Code Council discussed on Wednesday a building codes change to require new residential dwellings to be outfitted with fire sprinkler systems.

Court reinstates Wyoming firefighters

Barring further court action, or a trial, fire protection for the Yoder, Wyoming, community will return to its traditional status. A preliminary injunction issued Wednesday by Eighth Judicial District Court Judge John Brooks, of Douglas, declares the Yoder Volunteer Fire Department and the Yoder Fire Protection District are separate entities and their relationship is to return to the status quo that existed prior to the upheaval brought about by conflicts over control and management of the department’s day to day operations.

Maryland firefighter survives blast and goes back to fight flames

VIDEO: A Waldorf Firefighter is lucky to be alive after a diesel tank explosion surrounded the 23-year-old in flames early Tuesday morning. It started as a barn fire in Charlotte Hall, Charles County, Md. "I was flowing water on the tank and actually I stopped flowing water for about three seconds," said Allen Bizzell, who told WUSA 9 that's all it took for the explosion to happen.

Firefighters killed in Washington: ‘three big heroes protecting small towns’

One was a 20-year-old physics student and theater fan, another a former starting right tackle with a master’s degree.
