Snohomish County: Fire District 3, Fire District 7 will meet to consider a merger

Two Snohomish County fire districts are talking about a merger. This time, it's a new pairing: District 3 in Monroe and District 7, with headquarters in Clearview. The two share a border along the Snohomish River and together would cover 115 square miles. “We have been working collaboratively together, looking at the finances and the efficiencies,” District 7 Fire Chief Gary Meek said.

Brush fire burns about 2 acres along Valley Creek in Port Angeles

A brush fire just west of Port Angeles High School burned about 2 acres early Tuesday morning near where Valley Creek forks off. The fire was reported at 5 a.m. in the thick woods and brush of the Valley Creek gorge near the southern end of South Cherry Street, said Port Angeles Fire Chief Ken Dubuc.

Residents Still In Shock Over Mason County Fire That Destroyed 5 Homes

Firefighters are still on the scene of a quick-moving blaze that burned five homes in rural Mason County, Washington, on Friday. The destruction is evidence of dry conditions even on the west side of the Cascades. Residents are just beginning to take stock of what they lost. Kris Fite sifted through the remains of the triple-wide trailer he shared with his sister, her three kids and their grandfather.
