Connecticut deputy chief suspended without pay related to actions at task force hearing

Deputy fire Chief Daniel Nolan, suspended with pay since April pending an investigation into his actions at a fire department task force hearing, has received a 30-day unpaid suspension following an administrative hearing. Nolan, who runs the department's training, learned of his suspension via an email from Vincent Fusco, president of the Hartford Firefighters Association, according to Nolan's attorney, Mario Cerame.

Fire truck crash victim to get $15M settlement from two California cities

A 53-year-old father who lost his right leg after a crash sent a fire truck careening into a restaurant last year is poised to receive a $15 million settlement from Alhambra and Monterey Park, according to court documents. As Kenneth Thai of Monterey Park waited to cross an intersection on April 16, 2014, an Alhambra fire ladder truck heading south on Garfield Avenue collided with a Monterey Park fire engine going east on Emerson Avenue.

New fire truck arrives in Basin City

Franklin Fire District 4’s new $222,000 Rosenbauer pumper tender was something Chet Bauermeister would have been proud of. The bright red fire truck was so shiny you could use it as a mirror and smell the fresh rubber from 20 feet away. “It was his vision,” said fire district Commissioner Jim Klaustermeyer.
